The Cooney Class of '78 Photo Album

Please give us your 'Best Shots' and we'll post them for all Cooney Alumni to view. You can e-mail as attachments in any file format (.jpg, .gif, .bmp, pic, etc.) and for any platform (Windows, Mac, etc.) or you can send them via post and we will scan them and return them to you.  Send us photos of your family, your travels, your reunion memories or high school days (you know, the ones that couldn't go in the Yearbook). Please remember that these pictures can be viewed by anyone with internet access and a web browser. In the interest of safety, we prefer not to post pictures of children together with their names.

If you don't have scanner, send your photos to Neal Minogue (minogue@cppweb.com) and he will return them within the week. Don't worry about return postage and he promises he will get them back to you in one piece.  Thanks Neal.

My new husband and I just got back from our honeymoon - we went out to Glacier Park and northwestern Montana. While there, I visited Bridget Byrnes Fuglei. We spent a few hours together, and had a blast catching up! It was the highlight of my trip! Here's a photo her husband took of us.

Here is an updated picture for you. It was on the cover of the Palm Beach Post last Wednesday. Donald and I played with Anika Sorenstam again this year in the pro/am at the LPGA Championship that we host at Trump International in Palm Beach. Always fun with those two even though we did not defend last years win. I am still the Chairman of Trump National Bedminster (http://www.trumpnational.com/) and I am really enjoying that. The family is great but it is amazing that I have a daughter in College who is home for Thanksgiving vacation.  -Ashley

If you haven't ALREADY completed your holiday shopping, I want to suggest you contact classmate Eric Wunrow about getting signed copies of his new book for everyone you know. The art is excellent, the printing superb, and the price well within reason. Also, for those of us that are chained to chair, it is a great mental vacation! Eric has just published his first edition e-news of Eric's Trail Reports. Send him an email and ask to be put on the distribution list. Honestly, the pictures and writing can almost take the reader to these far and mysterious places. Here is Eric's address: EW@EricWunrow.com.

As I get ready to return home, I thought I'd share a few pics with you. I've been here in Kuwait since Feb and will return to the DC area in in mid-June and begin the slow move toward closing this chapter in my life and will retire on 30 Sep. This has been an interesting trip, although I did not go north to Baghdad, I was able to travel to Qatar and return back to Saudi for a few days too. the pictures include a couple taken right at the Kuwaiti - Iraqi boarder crossing (the one warns our soldiers to watch out for kids as they will run in the road when the troops throw MREs to them as they drive by), a sand storm that came up quickly as we were driving to a base near the boarder, and one pic of what's called the "bone yard" - which is where all the 1000's of vehicles and artillery pieces now reside from the 1st Gulf War's "road of death" north of Kuwait City - the image that looks like a ridgeline in the background of that pic is actually more vehicles and arty pieces, truly remarkable in it's carnage - it makes you pause and ask why.

All the best and hope that you all have a wonderful summer

I talked to Vicky Hubbard last week and she told me about the website. First I heard of it...lol. Please post my info on it in hope a few of our 'ol friends will get in touch. I'm sending a pic of my daughter and I. ... All is well here... still driving truck. ... I run from the Dells (that's where I've been living for the past 11 years) to the Twin Cities and back 5 days a week. Kinda like running to the store and back...lol. About 460 miles a day... about 7 hours worth. ... I have 2 boys...24 & 22, both married with 2 kids each and my daughter is at UW Madison.

Howdy, I thought I would drop a note and attach a current picture. I just won a spirited campaign for Alderman 1st district of Delafield. This is my first entry into politics and we are hopeful. I won by a large margin for my district (82 to 121) with 60% of the district voting. Anyway I didn’t know if you can update the info from earlier for the reunion. Looking forward to July.
Thanks again for all the great work on this sight,
Jeff Krickhahn

Hi everyone,

Warm regards and happy holidays to all,

For all those people who live outside Milwaukee and haven't had a chance to see this latest jewel -- here are a couple of pictures I took on the opening of the Calatrava addition to the Milwaukee  Art Museum. The Burke Brise Soliel (the wings) open at 10am on Saturdays and noon on Sundays --weather permitting -- must be a wind less than 40 km per hour. The wings close at 5pm both days. I encourage anyone living in, or visiting, the Milwaukee area to visit the Art Museum. The web address: http://www.mam.org/. More importantly, here is a picture of Anne Clare and I getting ready to go Trick or Treating. The little pumpkin outfit courtesy of my good friend Theresa Jordan Hagerman!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. May we continue to be mindful of all our many blessings. Clare Cheney Sedlacek: csedlacek@wi.rr.com

Saw Bill Gladbach's pictures on the website and it inspired me to e-mail you some of my own. The picture of the 3 of us was taken at German Fest in July -- Anne Clare did her first polka with me! Jim and I moved to Plymouth, Wisconsin in late June -- I absolutely love living in a small town again. Jim is now the head football coach at Plymouth High School, as well as teaching physical education and health. I am a stay-at-home mom and having a great time with my Anne Clare, who will be 7 months old on August 30th. Hope you had a great holiday. - Clare Cheney Sedlacek

Just wanted to share a pic of the boys with my deer.  Had a great hunting season this year and I now have about 80 lbs. of venison to share. This one was an eight pointer.  My son Jeff, on his first deer hunting trip, shot a six pointer.

Seth Ruef, together with his wife Lis, in August on the Belgian Coast.

Attached photos are a sample of the spectacular views and colors we were able to see. Most impressive was that most of those photos were taken at a depth of 40-80 feet and the colors remained so vivid (color clarity/resolution is usually lost at about 30 feet and everything turns blue-green in color).  The water temp was 88 degrees at the surface and 83 at 120-130 feet.  But for me the biggest thrill was, that I had the opportunity to see a Oceanic White Tipped Shark (6-8 feet long), my first shark while actually diving.  We were at about 130 feet when he circled us once and swam off.  He must not have been hungry or we just didn't look all that good - - - - and yes, they are on the list of sharks that occasionally dine on people and I have to say, it did cause me to hear the theme song from Jaws for a second or two.

The table top coral was larger than a normal dining room table and the Pearl Oyster was about 12-16 inches across. - the yellow - blue  is really called the Royal Angelfish and is fairly common in the Red Sea I feel that I am one of a lucky few to be able to dive in the Red Sea from Saudi territorial waters.  Fact is, Saudi Arabia is not open to tourism -you can't visit the Kingdom, you have to be sponsored in on a work or a special visa. The significance of this is, the area where we dove was generally untouched and hasn't been subjected to the "wear and tear" - and destruction - that usually occurs as a result of a lot of divers taking souvenirs. Have been here 4 months now - 8 to go. This is an interesting assignment and offers many rewarding opportunities, but I do look forward to returning to the States. Hope all is well by you,
Bill

It is with my apologies to Shelly (Navine) and her husband I post this very nice picture sent to me via Charles. Charles sent it to me some time ago and I have been blatantly irresponsible regarding this posting. Sometime in the past few months Shelly and her husband celebrated their wedding anniversary. I wish you and your husband many more years of wedded bliss....Congratulations! Bravo!  - Neal Minogue (Click on the image to see full size version and read accompanying article).
These are from a place called Graffiti Rock.  The drawings on the rock are from approx 6,000BC, when the area was covered by forests.  It's kind of hard to believe esp when you see the completely barren landscape today. Below is a group photo and left, one of my deputy (CPT Rob Jordan) and I. (Major William Gladbach)
William Gladbach (see above text)
Only humans are dumb enough to venture out into the 135-140 degree heat, there must have been 50-75 goats huddled under the shade tree - anything to escape the direct sunlight. The other picture (below) was taken at "The Edge of the World" as the Saudi's call it - it's very similar to a Saudi version of the Grand Canyon, but there are no trees to obscure the view - - - at all. It is my understanding from Mr. Pinter his students are required to do their speech presentations using Microsoft's Power Point. My how times have changed!"

Bridget 'Byrnes' Fuglei writes I dug this picture out the other day. It's Kelly Marti, Carol Hamilton, Cris Duchow and Polly Lueck. I took the picture when the 5 of us had dinner together at the Golden Mast in Okauchee the Friday night before the reunion. The picture was taken about 10 minutes prior to a major cloud burst. Just the kind of summer storm I'd hoped for...I miss them.

Neal Minogue writes The kids have never been ice fishing and Molly and I wanted to take them to the lake where we spend time during the summer to fish. The day was beautiful as it was about 45 degrees and not much wind. Our neighbor up at the lake, Doc Koch ( sounds like cook) has every tool known to man and as expected the Quad four with the plug in ice auger Drilled three holes in about five minutes. Cool...We did not catch a single fish, but we had fun. We were sitting out on the lake on a spot where we can only cast our lines to during the summer. The kids thought that was neat.
