This is an all-day introduction to four of the most compelling free/open source Web-Course-builders, Moodle, Manhattan, DrupalEd and Site@School.

Each of these tools has its strengths and its focus. Unfortunately, many schools adopt a one-size-fits-all approach in the name of preventing IT Dept. headaches. These four are not IT headaches -- if teachers will take the time to learn how they work. Fortunately, most people are surprized at how much power is available to them with very little effort.

We will set up online examples of all of the above. Each participant will be given admin and normal user accounts on each tool and will be walked through a tutorial meant to show how the tool would be used to create an on-line classroom.

Our goal is that each participant go away with the information needed to decide, or contribute knowledgeably to a decision about, the best choice for him or her or their school.
