[1]ITeachNet's vision is three-fold, all based on the premise that openness leads to better learning, better schools and better societies:

1. Open Mind To support international educators by providing tools for communication, collaboration, support for finding employment, professional development, professional status and personal well-being.
2. Open Source To support the use of high-quality, dependable, and robust open-standard, open-source and free software (and similar ideas and projects) that encourage curiosity rather than stunt it, reward initiative and hard work (you can learn how to use them), are open to change, can be disseminated free of anti-education/learning legal barriers, encourage community communication and collaboration (everybody can contribute), are affordable, actively developed.
3. Open Heart To support the goal of universal access to learning around the world, especially by encouraging teachers and schools to share technology, curricula, ideas with each other and also with others who could benefit from them.
